This Sunday Sound Savers is providing the venue for a introductory bass workshop with bass wizard Lianna Davis. The workshop is part of a series in the run up to First Timers
First Timers is a gig that is designed to help inspire diversity and invite a whole new group of people to take part in the current DIY music community.
Register for the workshop here:
https://firsttimersbassworkshop.eventbrite.co.uk/
Here’s a little more info on the workshop:
This is an informal chance to learn new skills or brush up on your basic ones, as is aimed at beginners or novices who have never played bass in a band before. More info on what to expect will be posted up here soon. The workshop will last for two hours and will be non-intimidating and fun.
You do not need to be in a band that has signed up to play at First Timers in order to attend the workshops. They are open to all, but please register here to attend as space is limited.
Please bring a bass with you if you can – if you don’t have access to one, we will have a few at the space for you to use.
The new Halo Halo album, recorded at Sound Savers and mixed by Nico Marcel is coming out on Upset The Rhythm on the 10th July. It’s one feel good hit after another. It’s available from here on preorder:

We recorded Weird Menace last July, when the studio and the band were still at the beginning, since then they’ve played numerous gigs with Sealings, Cold Pumas, Vision Fortune et al. Now they’re releasing a tape on Suplex, and we’re also having a launch for them on the 14th March at Power Lunches. Today’s Loud And Quiet features a free downloadable track but make sure you buy the limited edition tape too:

Close Knits
This monthly column in Drowned In Sound highlights the best of current DIY noise pop and indie sounds. Luckily for us, most of it is recorded at Sound Savers. Giant Burger, Primitive Parts, Breathe Out, Domestic Blitz and Sharm El Shakes are all featured, it even mentions the tape launch that we’re doing for Weird Menace on the 14th March:
